unknown contacts
for the love of God, give us the option of grouping all Unknown contacts together! I get many Outlook email text notifications and each one comes from a different number, so I can't just create a contract for it.

I always thank the bot whenever it tells me about updates. I request that the bot respond similarly if I express my love for them.

When Google sms receives a one time password and the message floats over head, there's 2 options: to copy the string of text or numbers or reply to the recipient.
I would like to see a link that allows me to copy the OTP to the clipboard so I can easily paste it to my apps or whatever I need to fill in.

Idea for better contact retrieval
When starting a text, every person that I've surveyed said they start typing that person's name. When I type the first three letters of my wife's name (sus), her name is the seventh suggestion. It appears after people who do not have "sus" in their name. I researched it, and apparently it is using the traditional telephone #-to-letter equivalents and retrieving people whose phone number features those number letter equivalents. Why? The search results should just default to the actual letters you type. Please fix this. Thank you!

Backup all or an individual conversation or both can be save backup as a Text, html, pdf file & can be restore anytime again.

I got a new phone plan where I can receive texts but not send them. Can you make a setting to warn me not to send an SMS after I hit enter please?

Find a workaround to bring back colored (customizable, even), notification icons!!
I realize it was removed due to new Google Play Store requirements and Android changes, but there must be a way to have our color notification icons back!
I wud love to take it a step further & be able to choose our own colors & even out own icons (preferably from other icons packs we've already bought and own or that are already on our phones/ systems. After all they're just .png files.3 votes -

More customization options!
I would love to see more customization options throughout the app. Esp things like more/custom fonts, set transparency levels for backgrounds, message bubbles, etc.
I really like the option in FB messenger to be able to use gradients on the message bubbles. It really looks sweet when using blacked out/ dark themes. It just makes everything "POP"!
Wud also like more custom notification icons that u can set for each contact. What we currently have is a start but more wud be better. Or an even BETTER option wud be to let US choose our own! Either by letting us…29 votes -
Listening to audio clips
Allow for option to listen to audio clips in private with the handset, vs the speakerphone. Something like what WhatsApp does - when you put phone up to your ear, it switches to handset mode.

Encryption for messages (like signal or telegram)
It's the only thing make me want to leave textra. I Think that, this application with secure message (encrypted) will be the best SMS app.
