  1. Pull up group chats by name

    I love that you can name group chats, but I would love to be able to delete the chats and start a new chat by the group chat name.

  2. Float messages to top

    When composting a new conversation, I think it'd be nice if messages floated to the top of the screen as they appear in-chat, rather than staying at the bottom.

  4. Option to change date view

    I live in the UK where we show our dates as DD/MM/YY. I'd love to be able to change the date of the text to the way we use it rather than MM/DD/YY as it can get confusing.

  5. Recover Deleted Messages!!!

    I've accidentally deleted a message from a loved one and have no way to recover it. Why? Literally every message service - email, text, dms - has an option to recover or restore deleted messages for a short period of time.

    Please add. For the time, I'll have to use a different messaging app. I can't risk losing any more messages permanently.

  7. SHOWING EMOTION ON PHOTOS

    Can you also add these emoji responses ❤️👍👎😂❓‼️ to photos??
    We can only do this for text replies. It would be great to do it for photos as well.

    Also!!! when responding to text with an emoji can we have the option to choose more than what you've used as a default? like could we pick any Emoji we wanted to respond back with? or maybe like the top 20?

  8. Ability to silence Reactions

    Now that reactions are gaining popularity, especially in group chats, would it be possible to have an notification option under Settings -> Nuisance Control for reactions (much like how Unknown Contacts works). I have no choice but to silence group chats to stay sane. Thanks!

  11. Since you update so often why don't you fix the glitch that causes the names we've entered into textra to disappear! I want to send a quic!

    Fix app so my names of contacts don't disappear everytime you update the App!

  12. Audio Message Screen Timeout

    It would be nice to have the screen timeout overriden when playing an audio message. I like my screen timeout set to 2 minutes and if there's an audio message longer than that, it pauses and I have to unlock my phone again. I know I could change my screen timeout, but I have reasons for keeping it at 2 minutes. Just a suggestion!

  15. OTP settings

    Allow a setting that seperates notifications for SMS and OTP, this will allow users to:
    - select a different ringtone for each
    - customize notifications independently

    This exists on a couple of other competitors apps

  16. contact-based auto responder

    I would like to see a feature where I can have an automatic response to specific people. Like an ex, or a client I've fired, or some other person harassing me via text messages. For one reason or another, I can't blocklist this person.

  17. Locking the app / App security

    I switched to Extra after Signal phased out SMS support.

    Although there is a previous suggestion to add a simple numerical or pattern lock, I feel a better option would be to use the Android OS screen lock mechanism to unlock the app, which would allow the user to use any method available -- custom, variable length, secure password, biometric, etc. This is much more secure than a simple 4 digit pin.

  20. Stop censoring my cursing

    If I use voice-to-text from my keyboard and use a curse word, Textra always censors the words on the text message.
    Please stop doing that, or at least give me the control settings to change it.
