when entering a conversation, scroll to the last read message that you have seen, have a horizontal bar indicating all messages (and count perhaps) below the line are unread

Delete Confirmation or Recover Option..
After accidentally deleting all of a conversation that I was trying to "pin", I think the delete option needs a safe guard.
Possibly x2 confirmations before it actually deletes the items!
Ps..
I also support that it needs an "UN-delete or Restore" function. The app has grown to be at a point where mistakes like mine can be done, but not undone7 votes -
Search for sms number in contacts listed in connected Directory
I have a connected corporate business contact directory. When I receive a text message in Textra from one of those contacts it only shows me the number and not their name.
It appears Textra is not searching the connected corporate directory for contacts in order to find a matching name to the number.

clear notification bar without msgs being marked as read
on lock and unlocked screen when swiping left or right to clear notification bar and have unread measages for later.
when I usually clear my notification bar including my text msgs, for some reason it always marks them as read

textra update for moto G5
with the smartphone moto G5 by Lenovo/motorola, we have an option to navigate with one finger and disable the navigation bar at the bottom of the screen.
but while this option is on, I can't use the Emojis, photos, etc, when im texting someone because I can't see the menu of the items I would like to send.
sorry for my English, I hope you'll be able to understand what I mean and fix this tiny bug.

Resend
When a message fails to send, rather than just inform me, I would like it to automatically retry to send after a few minutes. Sometimes I don't see the fail to send message until considerably later.

Say who sent reply in group message for Android Auto
Right niw when android auto plays a message from a group message, it repeats the name of everyone in the chat then the message. It should say, "In Group conversation, Mike said xxx" or something to that effect. So we know who said what

Don't mark as read when clearing notification.
Clearing the notification from the pull down automatically marks the text as read. It would be nice if I could remove the notification but keep the message unread to remind me to check it later as notifications get crowded and I can get to the texts at a later time. Essentially the same way the stock samsung messages app treats clearing those notification(s).

Amazon echo skill
make a skill for Amazon echo that links directly with the Amazon echo assistant. This would not require any more permissions on either end I don't think while also making it easier to text your contacts from home if your phone is not nearby.

Mark as Read in Notification
In Google Messenger, there are two notification options to an incoming text message: "reply" and "mark as read". If you click "mark as read", the message will look like a read text when you go to open the app.
In Textra, the only option is "reply." I think it would be helpful to add the "mark as read" option as well.

The send delay change
I am a big user of this feature. I think the most important part is the quick cancel, so I argue that the cancel should be where the send button is (for fastest cancel).
Make the new cancel location be the 'send now' second click, and revert the send button to become cancel.

Have the ability to select folders while sending images so the amount of scrolling needed is less.
