Jones commentedBelow are a series of spam messages I've received like this over the past month or so. This NEEDS to be addressed! Blocklisting is grossly insufficient, because every message comes from a new address.
To render addresses and URLs unclickable, and obfuscate my number, I've made the following replacements:
* colons (:) with equals signs (=)
* periods (.) with asterisks (*)
* my actual phone number with <my_phone_number>
but these are otherwise unaltered including formatting, spacing, spurious characters, etc.[11/26/21 17:43] 12454@panix*com: - / HOME DEPOT

An error occurred while saving the comment J. Jones commentedThis definitely needs to be a thing. Why can't the blocklist support wildcards? I'd love to just blocklist *@* (so anything with an "@" in the middle).
Adding individual messages to the blocklist isn't sufficient, because each spam comes from a new address. Getting tired of whack-a-mole.

An error occurred while saving the comment J. Jones commentedI don't know how this is not a thing yet. Neighbor spoofing (i.e. using the same area code/prefix as your number) is common, and yet we seldom know many people with the same prefix.
If my number were 4025012222, it'd be nice to be able to block "402501*" and instantly put a stop to all the spoofed messages. Combined with a whitelist (or just let contacts bypass wildcard filters) even if I do have a few friends with the same prefix they'll be in my contacts and not be blocked.

I put it on Twitter too... feel free to add there, it might get better visibility, I kinda wonder if Uservoice is where Textra suggestions go to die...
