An error occurred while saving the comment Janelle commentedBefore anyone tried to comment that this has now been implemented, allow me to clarify that no, it really hasn't! "Supposedly", Textra now backs up with Google, but this seems highly unreliable, since it didn't work for my new phone. There's no way to confirm that the backup is happening properly in the first place, since Google doesn't allow you to see inside their backups. And then even if it did backup, the ONLY way to restore is during 1 particular step when you're first turning on a brand new or factory reset phone. If anything at all goes wrong in that process, you're sunk. There's no other way to restore the settings for this 1 app without doing a complete factory reset of the phone.
Sorry, but that doesn't count as a real settings backup. The issue remains.
An error occurred while saving the comment Janelle commentedHonestly, do the developers of this app not use their own product, or do they just never, ever change phones???
Regarding the previous comment about screenshots for settings: Right, but with an app like this, do you have any idea just how many screenshots we'd be talking about??? Plus, it's not just about knowing what the settings are, it's the effort and time of going in and making all the changes. I've renamed, recolored, and re-toned almost every conversation I have!
An error occurred while saving the comment Janelle commentedI'm getting ready to change phones, and the thought of having to recreate every. single. customization. I've made is extremely depressing. 😔🙁😦😯😟😢 Even if sounds can't be saved due to Android constraints, I've also renamed dozens of conversations, marked favorites, changed individual colors, tweaked the app settings....

An error occurred while saving the comment Janelle commentedI'd settle for being able to choose a different font color when choosing a different bubble color.

An error occurred while saving the comment Janelle commentedEspecially color! Since we can choose bubble colors per contact per conversation, we need to be able to choose the font color per contact per conversation, too! Right now, if I've chosen a light font color, I'm limited to only ever using dark bubble colors, or if I choose black for the font, I can only ever use light bubble colors. It's very limiting!!

An error occurred while saving the comment Janelle commentedIf I can rename a group conversation, why can't I rename an individual conversation?

An error occurred while saving the comment Janelle commentedI do still have a phone old enough that my contact list still has notification tones saved to individual contacts, and I really wish Textra would use them. Ideally, a contact's saved tone would be used in any conversation that I haven't chosen a custom tone for. For newer phones, perhaps Textra could default to the tone saved to the contact's solo thread? But then if a group conversation has a different time saved, that could still override the individual notification tones.
The problem I'd like to solve is this: I have a custom tone for my mom. Then she sends a group text to me & my dad, and it sounds like it came from a stranger instead of my mom. Ok, so I give that convo a "family" tone. Then She sends one to my brother, his wife, and me. Repeat (sounds like a stranger...set "family" tone"). Then she sends one to just me & my brother. Repeat. Then she sends one to me & my brother's wife. *sigh* Repeat.
And then I have a tone I use for people from work. Again, I have to go through the ringtone process all over again anytime someone sends a message to a slightly different configuration of people. It gets old. -

An error occurred while saving the comment Janelle commentedYay, this is now in place!
Everyone who voted for this can go reassign your votes now 🙂
(Might I suggest voting for the ability to change text color, too? As it stands, we're limited in our bubble color choices to just lighter or just darker colors, depending on our default font color choice.) -

An error occurred while saving the comment Janelle commentedYep, 2 years since my last comment, and I still wish I had a desktop shortcut that would jump me into a particular group text. I really don't care if it brings up the full app or a pop-up window. Either would be great!
An error occurred while saving the comment Janelle commentedI've actually discovered that my phone's default "send contact a text" widget seems to bring up Textra now that it's the default texting app. But what I've REALLY always wanted is a widget that offers a shortcut to a group text. I'd say well over half of the texts I send go to this one particular group chat I'm part of; I'd love a quicker way to get to it!

An error occurred while saving the comment Janelle commentedI see a lot of disagreement on this. Obviously, if this is supported, it should be customizable

An error occurred while saving the comment Janelle commentedYes, we also need the ability to change text color by person along with changing their bubble color. Currently, if I've chosen white or light gray as the default text color, it prevents me from ever giving anyone a light bubble color, because there's not enough contrast to easily read their texts. Likewise, if I've chosen the darker text colors, I can never give anyone a darker bubble color. It's really quite limiting!
An error occurred while saving the comment Janelle commentedMore colors! More lighter colors! More darker colors! More grayer colors! Better yet, just add an option to select colors by hex or RGB numbers or from that full rainbow color palette box with it'd lightnesd/darkness slider.

An error occurred while saving the comment Janelle commentedI don't actually want to fully block them, but I really like the "mute unknown" idea. (Actually, I want this for calls, too, but I don't suppose there's much you can do about that 😄)

An error occurred while saving the comment Janelle commentedYes! Especially since my previous blacklist didn't copy over. I was going to manually re-enter them, but found no way to do that.
